As part of the structural transformation of the city, a derelict former industrial site belonging to Thyssen-Krupp AG was developed into the CentrO project within a number of years. As well as the shopping centre, the entire complex now includes the König Pilsener Arena (KöPi-Arena), a multiplex cinema and CentrO Park, a leisure park with a wide range of offerings for all the family. CentrO was developed as the new centre of the city of Oberhausen and is located in the immediate vicinity of places of interest such as Schloss Oberhausen (museum and gallery), the Gasometer and several other leisure attractions. With some 70,000 visitors per day, CentrO has succeeded in attracting visitors to Oberhausen from the neighbouring region and beyond.
